Job Title: Electronic Hardware Engineer
Job Summary:
Design electronic circuit boards on a team that is developing the latest generation of battery pack controllers for high volume hybrid automotive production.
Responsibilities:
- Design, build, develop, test and release electric circuits that meet system requirements
- Use P-CAD software for design analysis, simulations and worst-case tolerance analysis
- Use lab equipment to test and prove out preliminary designs
- Investigate and resolve controller issues
- Selection and approval of electronic components
- Generate the necessary technical and functional documentation defining the controller hardware
- Approve release schematics, layouts and BOMs generated by the P-CAD operator
- Work with the P-CAD operator to layout PCB
- Lead DFEAM on controller hardware
- Work with Test Engineer to develop Engineering Development, Verification and validation test specifications and plans
- Work with Mechanical Engineer to develop housing for controller
- Work with controller manufacturer to ensure compliance to build requirements
Preferred Qualifications/Experience:
- Use of P-CAD or another commercial electronic CAD software
- Experience using lab equipment (scopes, DMM, power suppliers, etc.)
- Experience building and troubleshooting surface mount circuits
- Working knowledge of RS-485 and CAN
- Some software design experience desirable
- At least five years experience
Education:
Bachelors Degree or equivalent work experience
